Road reflective glass beads are a kind of fine glass particles formed by recycling glass as raw material, crushed and melted at high temperature by natural gas, which is observed as a colourless and transparent sphere under the microscope. Its refractive index is between 1.50 and 1.64, and its diameter is generally between 100 microns and 1000 microns. Glass beads have the characteristics of spherical shape, fine particles, uniformity, transparency and wear resistance.
Road reflective glass beads as road marking (paint) in the reflective material, can improve the road marking paint retro-reflective performance, improve the safety of night driving, has been identified for the national transportation departments. When a car is driving at night, the headlights shine on the road marking line with glass beads, so that the light from the headlights can be reflected back in parallel, thus enabling the driver to see the direction of advancement and improving the safety of night driving. Nowadays, reflective glass beads have become an irreplaceable reflective material in road safety products.
